Many of the early USA Camel Zippos were issued through the Camel Cash Catalogs and could only be bought using the C-notes found on the backs of packs of camel cigarettes. This changed with the appearance of the camel company catalogs in which branded merchandise was placed on sale for real dollars.

The same catalog featured "Big Joe's Zippo", the "Pop Art Zippo", the "Art Deco Zippo" and the first "Red Kamel Zippos" amongst the fifteen individual zippos that were made available through this catalog.
